The Menopause Project

Informing Choices is committed to improving understanding of menopause and ensuring that everyone has access to accurate, inclusive and accessible information and support.

Our menopause programme began as a partnership with Ulster University through The Menopause Project, funded by The Ideas Fund in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area. Together, we developed and evaluated an accessible menopause education programme for women with learning disabilities and explored how menopause information and support could be improved.

The research highlighted the need for better menopause education for women with learning disabilities, alongside greater awareness and confidence among the professionals, carers and supporters who work with them. You can read a summary of the findings here, or access the full research report here.

Following the success of the original project, Informing Choices has continued to deliver the menopause education programme for women with learning disabilities across Northern Ireland, securing additional funding to extend delivery into other Health and Social Care Trust areas. We continue to seek funding opportunities to make the programme available to more women and communities.

We also provide Menopause Awareness Training for professional. More information about our training can be found in our training brochure.
